Applying for a Marriage License (Hawaii Department of Health)

Applying for your marriage license is easy. We can break it down to a 3-step process.

Step 1

Apply for your marriage license online with the Hawaii Department of health office.

The application fee is $65

Step 2

After applying, you will receive an email with what’s known as your “locator ID number” Go to this next website to set up an appointment to pick up your marriage license when you arrive in Hawaii.

Step 3

When you arrive in Hawaii, both of you must go to the Department of health office with a government photo ID. Driver’s license or passport is perfect. Be sure to bring $5 dollars in cash and give it to the marriage agent who is giving you the marriage license. Pick up a copy of your marriage license and bring it to the wedding. Give the marriage license to your wedding officiant when you arrive at the location for your ceremony. Basically, that’s it!

After the Wedding

Your wedding officiant will file the license with the department of health. It takes approximately three working days for the department of health to process your license. After that, you will receive an email with a temporary marriage license that you can print out.
